How do I clean my device?
Always consult your physiotherapist for cleaning and sterilisation advice, as the following cleaning and sterilisation guidance may be different for each patient.
We recommend that the Bubble FLO® PEP Device be cleaned after every use to prevent any bacterial build up.
We recommend that you take apart all sections of the device to clean them using hot water, washing up liquid and a bottle brush, and then leave them to air dry. There is a hole on the top and base to hang your device up to dry.
Tubing – after washing and rinsing, we recommend spinning the tube in the air (like a helicopter rotor) to help remove all excess water. Make sure children, adults, and animals are at a safe distance before doing this to avoid injury.
We recommend:
- you alternate your check valves, to allow 24 hours drying between use.
- small components be left to air dry and once dry, store in a clean container with a lid and keep in a dust free environment.
- you use a sterilisation tablet, such as Milton, once a week.®
How often should I replace the tube assembly?
Always consult your physiotherapist for advice on cleaning and replacement times, as infection control guidelines may vary between patients.
What difference does the head (height) of water make?
The head (height) of water changes the pressure resistance. Less water = less pressure. More water = greater pressure.
Can I use a steam steriliser?
We do not recommend steam steriliser.
Can I use a sterilisation tablets?
Yes, we carried out intensive testing with ChloroSan Tablets used in hospitals:
“After six weeks of testing there was only a marginal difference found in the cracking pressure of the check valve and this was well within the tolerance levels allowed. No discolouration of the mouthpiece was found, the tubing remained the same length and the overall weight of the assembly increased fractionally over its starting weight, by six grammes.”
